When your home or building’s exterior is in dire need of professional cleaning, there are two main options available: soft washing and pressure washing. Both can be effective, but in most cases, soft washing will be the ideal choice.

Why Soft Washing Is Better Than Pressure Washing

Here’s why soft washing is often better than pressure washing:

  • Environmentally Friendly- Soft washing uses biodegradable chemicals to break down dirt, grime, and insect nests, as well as kill mold, algae, and bacteria. These chemicals won’t harm the environment. In addition, soft washing requires around 1/3 of the water that pressure washing uses, so you can conserve water, too.
  • Gentle Approach- Pressure washing is too harsh for delicate surfaces such as roofs, fences, stucco, and siding. The intense force can damage these surfaces and others. It can even cause concrete pitting or wood splitting in some extreme cases. Soft washing is much gentler, so you won’t have to worry about damage.
  • Deep Sanitization- Pressure washing can remove the appearance of mold, algae, and other contaminants, but it won’t truly eliminate them. The only way to do that is by sanitizing exterior surfaces with soft washing chemicals. These will penetrate deeply and kill the contaminants.
  • Long-Lasting Results- Because soft washing thoroughly removes contaminants at their roots instead of at the surface, it can keep your exterior surfaces clean up to 4 to 6 times longer than pressure washing.
